Vista RTM on VMWare Server
I downloaded the Vista RTM AIO from Winbeta.org [winbeta.org] the other day and I just now have a chance to play with it. So far installation isn't going quite well. :-(
It seems that you can't install from an ISO. Instead I had to burn the DVD and use a physical drive without Legacy Emulation selected.
Windows PE started using the ISO or Legacy Emulation, but the install program wouldn't start. But, when using a physical drive (no Legacy Emulation) the drive was mounted to my d: drive in Windows PE. Weird.
More later (maybe).

Comment Spam
I've been getting tons of comment spam lately. Last night I think I got over 150 comment spams. So, I did a little searching and found this post [stefangeens.com] about some anti-spam measures. Hopefully this will help with the crapflooding [wikipedia.org].

Fixing Computers
Recently I was fixing a friend's computer and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. It would power on for like 5 seconds (no video) then shut off. Hmmm, maybe the power supply or motherboard, right? Tried those, no dice. Maybe the CPU/RAM. Got some parts from a recent computer show and again no fixy (I think I just made that word up).
What's the one constant I had in all this? The damn case. It was a power button that was getting stuck down. Didn't used to be a problem until ATX style power supplies where the time a button is held down means different things. Man, I felt stupid. On top of that I didn't have a button to replace it with!
Just goes to show you, with today's computers even the case can break.
